Native Americans believe that every life is a gift to be treated with gratitude and respect. Every gift is a gift to be respected and treasured, for to give it away or hide it away is to show disrespect for the giver, whether human, spirit or Mother Earth. What has been referred to as the Harmony Ethic guided much of Native American living as it did for so many other indigenous peoples of the Earth. This encompasses the conscious avoidance of interpersonal conflict in an attempt to maintain reciprocally harmonious relations with all members of the tribe, village or community. These observances must again be observed and acted upon as a way of life.
The Harmony Ethic is a system based upon caring for fellow human beings through the expression of deep respect. This is the way to achieve harmonious survival. It also involves the presence of individual choice. And a person has just as much choice in creating harmony as in creating disharmony. I have spoken before of choice, you all have it and most fail to use it.
Every person has a purpose to fulfil during his or her lifetime. Every person, like every animal, tree, plant, and mineral, possesses some unique quality or talent to be discovered through a variety of experiences in this world, along with your individual interpretation of those experiences. Harmony is the key to meaningful life experiences in which all learning contributes to overall life purpose. This purpose is manifested by a striving for the wisdom and generosity exemplified by the Native American, Aborigine, African or Druid Elders who have accumulated a lifetime's worth of experience in the world. You Ancestors had learned the inner secrets to a harmonious existence and are the keepers of this wisdom, you must now look to them for guidance if you are all to emerge into the new world order. Far too many young ones think they can become elders at such a tender age, this is the domain of but a few, many of whom you have called the Indigo Children, oh dear ones, these ‘children’ have been coming to your Earth for millenia, it is nothing new, and they are not mere children, but the oldest of souls.
Traditional wisdom tells you that it is your purpose to face the world with courage in your hearts. This courage signifies a deep respect for the gift that we have been given through the ability to live, as well as a respect for all life. Courage transcends any circumstance, and ultimately comes from a harmony within oneself and between oneself and one's universe, an inner strength derived from the unity of body, mind, nature, and spirit. All that moves is sacred–only by understanding this can you realize the rhythm of Mother Earth, and thereby know how to place your feet, how to walk a path in sacredness, honouring the paths of others, all be they different from your own and not what you would wish for, they have the right to be as they would wish to be and when you can truly say that you can accept them as they are, then you can count yourself as being in the Harmony Ethic.
You may not always have control over what happens to you, but you always have a choice over what happens inside you. When you live by the Harmony Ethic it can begin to help you to live your lives in a more connected, healed, and whole way. No one knows you better than you. Nobody but you has seen with your eyes the things you have seen, and most importantly, no one but you has experienced your life in quite the same way that you have. What others do know of you, they know only through what they see and what you tell them. It is therefore your own choice whether or not to invite others to see with your eyes or walk in your shoes, but it is their choice whether or not to do so.
I have said many times you are your own worst enemies. No one does a better job of deceiving you or treating yourselves badly than you do. No one can do a better job of finding ways to ignore your innermost thoughts and fears than you can, and I am talking to the whole of humanity here. Certainly there will be others who would wish you to be different, to be as you once were, or to be more like them, however, their success depends on your willingness to let them succeed in doing so. Your success in doing yourselves wrong depends solely on intention, you can allow yourself to be changed, allow yourself to feel pain, anger, hurt or whatever. ChoicesIkeep saying it, choices.
The worst thing about having so many choices is having to choose. No one can say for sure who is truly worse off, the one who is forced to do something and wishes she or he could do something entirely different, or the one who freely chooses to do something and later regrets it. Whatever choice you make at any given time is the right one for you at that time. Simple. So why do you all fret so ? You cannot undo the past, you cannot change it, yet you dwell on it so much always hoping it was different. Only you can make the future different, only you can work to create the future you want, if others do not wish to join you it is not their fault, it is simply is their right to choose not to, it is simply as it should be.
Imagination is the one true measure of freedom. It's not a matter of what you can or cannot do, but what you think you can or cannot do that matters. Inevitably, the rest will follow in time. Being open to experience or the possibilities of every situation reflects the inner strength of one who has established harmony within oneself, so allowing the world to unfold whilst they accept and 'go with the flow' as you are all so fond of saying yet never practice. Wisdom is having more questions than answers. The one who has found all the answers to his or her questions has run out of questions. The one who has run out of questions has run out of learning. A person who ceases to learn has also ceased to experience. And a person who has run out of experience cannot be wise. And why ? Because they are mostly trying to recapture something that has past.
Search long and hard enough dear children for something and you will surely find it. Sometimes you look for something when there is nothing to find and at others you do not see what is right in front of you because you have put up shutters. However, if you are willing to keep looking for it to be there, almost miraculously it will be because you have that intention, this is especially true of limitations. Moreover, the harder you look for and believe there is a certain limitation, the more likely it is to appear before your very eyes. At the same time, if you look too hard for something you might miss it altogether, because you cannot see past what is right in front of you to the inner Harmony that is working away inside a person or a situation you find yourself in.
Sometimes you try so hard to be what you're not that you may forget who you truly are. Your nature provides you with opportunities for becoming something much greater than yourselves. However, if a circle tries to bend by ignoring its centre, it's no longer a circle.
You are all as one on the circle of life dear children, each person is another you fighting to understand their inner selves, to live in Harmony, so judge yourself and your emotions and feelings before you judge or slight another.
Learn to accept and live in Harmony.
