This channelled lecture is from the Big Indian - one of Michael’s guides - and was given during Michael and Jane’s recent holiday in Kirkcudbright, Scotland.
The Big Indian: Existence is not optional - existence is compulsory!
Would you please tell the people of Earth that existence is compulsory.
And why should I say that? Because many people contemplate suicide or, through their arrogance, believe that there is oblivion following physical death (which actually does not exist, there is no such thing as death – there is only transition). Will you tell them, please, that they should not waste their thoughts - their valuable thoughts - in this manner as existence is compulsory.
Existence is there whether they believe in oblivion or not - it is not optional. If someone is contemplating suicide and contemplating oblivion they can have one, certainly, but not the other. If someone sincerely believes that they can live how they will and that at the end of their physical term there is nothing – it is not so!
Existence is compulsory: when the light is switched off in one room, it is switched on in another - that light has nothing to do with the conscious will of the traveller. That person will continue to exist for the second after their physical transition, for the year after, for the millennia after and for always and it is not their choice (in that I mean that - whether they believe in oblivion or not - oblivion does not await them). They cannot switch themselves off. The desire to switch themselves off or to meet oblivion is of the conscious physical mind only. In order to switch themselves off they would have to switch off God and there would be nothing (in the purest form of the term nothing) and it cannot be possible; one illusive individuality of God cannot switch off the Godhead.
I tell people this so that they can face up to there being another life. It is sometimes easy in a troubled state of mind to contemplate suicide and to say, ‘Well, this will be an end to it, an end to my troubles’. No, it will not!
Your troubles end through greater understanding and not through snuffing out the consciousness, snuffing out your existence and you can’t do it.
I may seem harsh by talking in this way; I do not mean to be - I come with love and compassion to say: Please do not contemplate such things because your view of what follows physical death is skewed, is wrong and is not accurate.
To the person who believes that there is only oblivion after death but is not contemplating ending their physical life, they are causing problems for themselves and problems for me and for those who work in a similar capacity to me (reference to the Big Indian’s involvement in transferring the recently ‘deceased’ to the spirit realms) because, having believed in oblivion for twenty, thirty, forty, fifty years…. they shroud themselves and the light of their spirit with a barrier built of that belief. They continue to exist but they cannot, in many cases, sense and reach out to the people who come from higher realms to guide them to their new position in their infinite existence. They argue with us, they refuse to talk to us, they use their mind in a loop to convince themselves that they really don’t exist. The irony of that escapes them - the fact that they are still functioning escapes them. They earnestly believe that they arguing themselves into nothingness or, worse still, that they are already operating from a point of nothingness. And yet they still exist.
If you cannot believe in me, if you cannot believe in spiritual realms at least do yourselves a favour by not being so shutter-minded. At least do yourself a favour by saying, ‘I don’t know’. To say, ‘I don’t know’ is far better than saying, ‘I know’ and then being proven wrong and causing us and yourself such problems. I don’t know – isn’t that true: you don’t know! If you say you do know then you are suffering from an overdose of arrogance, Brother! Arrogance, Sister! You don’t know!
I like the phrase ‘open-minded’. Open-minded: a mind into which possibilities can enter. Close-mindedness is like a fence, like a barrier, like a brick wall, like a granite edifice and causes so many problems. Listen to me!
Our concern is to change the face of the Earth - the field of the Earth not the core that is its spirit but the face that is you - the face that you have placed on this Earth. Instead we find ourselves arguing with spirits who have passed over, convincing them that they still exist, pleading with them to come with us, showing them that there is something else. Little, by little, by little chipping away the barrier – the field that they have taken with them just as surely as if they had never left the Earth plane.
We do not have time for this!
Please help yourselves, help others, help us – leave your mind open and every time you are tempted to place that barrier back down and to say, ‘There is nothing, I am certain, I know’ just say to yourself: ‘The Big Indian told me that existence is not optional’ and maybe we will get through and you will get through so much more easily when you pass over and with certainty (not with hope but with certainty) find yourself in a different realm, a different environment.
This is my time off too and when Michael and Jane or David take themselves away from this world, we try to go into retreat with them too. So, Brother, Sister, I am using some of my leisure time (time when I can in mind be with Michael and Jane and Joan and David) to talk to you. If I can take some of my time to talk to you, is it asking so much for you to take a little of your time to consider what I have to say?
My heart is big and my love is with you. I love God at one side of the equation and you at the other - every one of you. And I love myself (as I am supposed to) and I love my work but this work (reference to the spiritual teaching) and not particularly the work of having to convince so many of you that you still exist. I do my job, I do it right and my love is in how I do the job and my love is in mankind. My love is not in the fact that the job has to be done. Oh for the day when it doesn’t and we can concentrate on changing minds on greater subjects rather than the base question of whether or not you will exist after physical death.

Loving beings would never seek to remove your free will or guide you into a place of apathy or harm. As physical beings it's important that we speak up against injustices, stay in balance with planet Earth and restore her back to full health to pave the way for a brighter future for ourselves and our children.
It is our belief that the Awakening process is an inward personal journey stripping away fears and emotional baggage that no longer serve you, so YOU can become more of who you truly are. We hope you find these postings enjoyable and uplifting.
